Human Trafficking Is Not A Myth: Survivors of Modern Slavery (Baldwin County) –

October 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

We will have two presenters – Allana Chris of The Little Tree Project and Angelo Fermo of The Children’s Rescue Initiative.
Allana Chris is the Founder and Executive Director of Little Tree Project, thelittletreeproject.com – an anti-human trafficking organization headquartered in South Alabama with the mission of combating human trafficking through prevention, rehabilitation, and restoration. She has over 8 years of experience in the counter trafficking field conducting domestic and international rescue and aftercare services. Her experiences and conversations with survivors of modern slavery lead her to start Little Tree Project with a model that is survivor-driven and solution-focused, filling in the gaps expressed by survivors themselves. Little Tree is currently offering community awareness and prevention services, referrals to survivors, and more while they fundraise for their anticipated residential facility in Baldwin County, AL for survivors of modern slavery.

Angelo Fermo 18-month assignment to the National Targeting Center would be awarded with becoming the Homeland Security Special Agent Supervisor of the Mobile and Montgomery Offices. As a Supervisory Special Agent, Angelo oversaw the Child Predator Program and Human Trafficking Unit in Mobile and Baldwin County. It is during this role Angelo worked with the Children’s Rescue Initiative (CRI), thechildrensrescue.org –  a charity organization that has successfully saved over 2300 children from slavery and sex trafficking. Upon retiring, Angelo became a full-time board member and activist of the Children’s Rescue Initiative.
