Beloved Board Member Laid To Rest

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Betty Bostwick-Mason, one of our beloved Eagle Forum of Alabama Education Foundation board members has passed away.

Jim Cooper, President of Eagle Forum of AL Education Foundation (c3) Says This About Betty:

Betty had the spirit of 1000 men. She was bold, courageous, caring, loving, a warrior for righteousness!! Words cannot describe her passion for life and her willingness to be a front-line player to promote and protect America!! There are few people in this world I have admired as much as Betty. The Lord has blessed us all with her service, love, and friendship!! A truly wonderful person!!

Our President (c4) Eunie Smith Recalls Fond Memories:

Betty was a founding board member of Eagle Forum of Alabama and exercised strong leadership as Sixth District Chairman for years. When most of our leadership went to Houston Texas for the Pro Family Rally to counter the IWY debacle in 1977, Betty held a rally in downtown Birmingham at which Eagle State Treasurer Annie Laurie Gunter spoke. Betty was responsible for the provision in Alabama law that allowed qualified non educator appointments on the textbook selection and course of study committees.

Betty was a trusted adviser. I miss her constructive criticism. She never failed to help me or my family whenever asked and often when I did not know I needed help – like when she bought me a new red suit, took Karen to get a high school formal for me, and taught Albert to dance so he didn’t step on his date’s toes. She volunteered as Albert Lee’s scheduler during his winning Congressional campaign.

Once when she was in a greeting line for President Reagan early in his administration, she told him that she was praying for him. He stopped, looked her straight in the eyes and said, “Thank you; I need that!”
